Lost Arts Folk School Student Policies
These policies are designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable learning environment for all students, instructors, and staff at the Lost Arts Folk School.
Non Discrimination: There will be no discrimination or harassment on the grounds of race, color, sex, gender identity, marital status, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, or disability tolerated at any of our events or operations.
Registration and Payment: Students are responsible for registering and paying for classes in advance.
Accessibility: classes are held at a variety of locations, and may occasionally include terrain which is hilly and uneven. If you have mobility restrictions, please contact us to discuss access to classes.
Respectful Conduct: Students are expected to treat instructors, staff, and fellow students with courtesy and respect. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
Cell Phones and Electronics: To minimize distractions and maintain a focused learning environment, all cell phones and electronic devices must be silenced during class time. If you need to use your phone, please step outside the classroom.
Food and Drinks: Food and drinks may be allowed in some classrooms at the discretion of the instructor. Please be mindful of allergies and clean up any messes.
Safety: Students are responsible for following all safety guidelines and procedures outlined by instructors and LAFS for each class. When using tools and equipment that require it, students must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed by the instructor.
Materials and Tools: LAFS will provide materials for the class for a materials fee that will be paid for by the student. The materials fee is due at registration. LAFS or the instructor will inform you if you are required to bring any additional materials or tools.
Personal Property: Lost Arts Folk School is not responsible for the security of property belonging to students.
Animals: Pets are not allowed during class. Service animals are welcome.
Alcohol and Drugs: Carry in Alcohol and drugs are not permitted at Lost Arts Folk School events
Smoking: Smoking, vaping, or chewing tobacco are not allowed inside any building or outside during a LAFS class on any property. There may be designated smoking areas outdoors and smoking outdoors would be confined to this area.
Course Cancellations: The Folk School reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment, instructor illness, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. Registered students will be notified in advance and offered a full refund or the opportunity to transfer to another class.
Student Cancellation and Refunds: If you need to cancel your class after you have registered you will have 21 days to request a refund, regardless of the reason for canceling. Refunds are available as follows:
A full refund will be given when a cancellation is received 21 days before the class date.
If you must cancel within 21 days of the class date, no refund will be given due to registration costs, faculty contracts, material acquisitions, and venue rentals.
No refunds will be made after the start date of a class.
Registrations are transferable. The student accepting the transfer will need to contact info@lostartsfolkschool.org in order to register for the class before the class starts.
Intellectual Property: Students will respect the intellectual property rights of instructors and fellow students, refraining from unauthorized use or distribution of course materials.
Liability Waiver: Students will be required to sign a liability waiver before they participate in their registered classes.
Age Requirements: At this time LAFS classes are only open to adults 18+.
Health: Students shall adhere to any health and safety protocols implemented by the instructor or LAFS to ensure the well-being of themselves and others.
