The Art and Joy of Stitching

  • The Annex, at the Opera House 1136 Main Street Stevens Point, WI, 54481 United States (map)

Move beyond the basics and unlock your creative potential in this comprehensive embroidery class with instructor Jeanne Weymouth. We'll start by building your foundation by learning 10 core embroidery stitches and creating a custom stitch sampler.

Once you have the fundamentals down, we'll explore exciting ways to add texture and detail to your work. You'll learn to incorporate:

  • Dimensional appliqué

  • Reverse appliqué for intricate designs

  • Reusing beautiful stitched motifs from old textiles

  • Gel printing to add small, personal designs

With these new skills, you'll be guided through the process of designing and creating your own unique project, whether it's an embellished jacket, a one-of-a-kind wall hanging, a decorative bag, or a set of funky bookmarks. Get ready to transform everyday textiles into art!

We're excited to partner with The Annex, at The Opera House to bring you this class.

Creative Stitching; Contemporary Piecing; Weaving; Coil Weaving; Dry Felting, Wet Felting; Easy Batik; and other surface embellishment and fiber manipulation are among the classes I have taught.
